I’ve been asked to devise a way to teach/grade my students on how to take notes in class, because apparently this is not something many upper-level undergraduates know how to do anymore. I have no idea how to teach or…
Personally it depends on the teacher. I have a certain professor whose train of thought is coherent enough that I can write what he says in outline form and be able to study from it. I had another professor who rambled horribly and it wasn’t until I began typing his notes during lecture that I was able to keep up with his style. I find it rather helpful when professors post a mini outline of the lecture on the board, that way you will always have a quick reference of the topic at hand and not get so lost. I am giving random advice that might not pertain to your original question but these are some of the things that I have found helpful when taking notes.
